“The 2020 Chianti Classico is one of the standouts of this vintage.  Dark cherry, plum, spice, leather, menthol and licorice are all amplified in this decidedly potent Chianti Classico.  In 2020, the Caparsa Chianti Classico is a bit broader than it usually is, but its balance is impeccable.  The straight Chianti Classico is the humblest wine in the range, but in 2020 it is not too far behind the more ‘important’ wines, if at all!  Don’t miss it.”

“Owner Paolo Cianferoni believes that Sangiovese from the cool sector of Radda needs plenty of ageing before release. This unoaked 2020 annata was refined exclusively in concrete vats and bottled in October 2023. Clean and nuanced, it slowly ekes out wild raspberry, black tea, dusty earth and orange peel, becoming more youthful and focused as it sits in the glass. The palate is tactile and savoury; chalky tannins wield their grip but dissolve gracefully with a pleasantly powdery sensation. Concentrated citrussy acidity emerges with a burst of florals on the finish.”

“Based in Radda, the 2020 Chianti Classico is fresh and inviting with aromas of cigar box, red cherry liqueur, crushed stones, and tomato leaf. Medium to full-bodied, it’s ripe and meaty on the palate, with a savory slanting profile, notes of bitter orange and iron-rich earth, and a sanguine, mouthwatering, clean finish. Drink 2024-2030.”
