Founded in the 1970s, Uggiano is one of the leading producers in Chianti.  It’s a winery with history spanning over three centuries.  They represent classical expressions of Tuscan winemaking and produce classy Tuscan reds.  Their wines reflect the terroir and traditions of the region.  Uggiano makes some of Italy’s best red wines and receives regular international recognition for wines of quality and excellence.  Uggiano is known for wines that are approachable, fruit-forward and well-balanced.  Chianti Classico takes the “Riserva” mention after a long aging of at least two years.  The 2018 Uggiano Chianti Classico Roccialta Riserva is a bombshell Chianti and is an absolute steal.  It’s super-expressive with depth and tons of character.  It’s savory and translucent with aromatic complexity.  This wine is medium-bodied with firm, silky tannins and opens quite nicely on the palate.  It has notes of ripe plums, dark cherry, dried herbs, cedar, pipe tobacco and mild spices.  It’s delicious now and will only improve with cellaring.  This is an organically farmed Chianti that truly captures the region at a fantastic price point.  Enjoy!

“Ripe plums with some aromatic herbs and mild spices. Medium-bodied with firm, silky tannins and a medium finish. The plummy fruit opens quite nicely on the palate, but the finish is tight and firm, though not chewy. Drink or hold.”
