Outside of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas unquestionably leads the Southern Rhone in the number of top estates and world class wines.  In 1971, they became the first Cotes du Rhone Villages region to win the rights to their own AOC and are often referred to as the little brother to the more famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape region.  What Chateauneuf was a few decades ago, Gigondas is now.  Like Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas is defined by luscious fruit, generosity and spice.  Gigondas produces good-value wines that are rich, powerful, deeply concentrated and full of character.  It is a virtual treasure trove of great wines at great prices.  Mas de Flauzières is a farmhouse that belonged to the castle of Entrechaux in the Middle Ages.  The estate has vines over several appellations, including Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Séguret, Ventoux, and Cotes du Rhone Villages.  This rare advantage of finding several appellations on the same family estate will transport you from the fruity and easy-drinking Ventoux to the full-bodied and structured Grands Crus of the world-famous Gigondas.  The 2023 Le Mas des Flauzieres Gigondas Four Danuga is an expressive wine with peppery, spicy, licorice and plum aromas.  It’s rich with a graceful mouthfeel, ripe tannins and a wonderful finish.  It’s a very full, concentrated, dense, fleshy, easy-drinking, and very fruity wine with silky, creamy tannins.  It has notes of sweet cherries, ripe berries, framboise and warm spices.  This is a classic Gigondas with so much to love.  Enjoy!

“The deep ruby-hued 2023 Gigondas Four Danuga checks in as a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest Mourvèdre. With rocking framboise, pepper, sweet flower, and incense-driven aromatics, this beauty hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, graceful mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It has a kiss of modern character with its purity and subtle oak, but it’s still a classic Gigondas that has so much to love.”
James Suckling, 91 Points
“A dense, fruit-driven and creamy blend of 70% grenache, 20% syrah and 10% mourvedre. It shows sweet cherries, ripe berries and warm spices on the nose, following through to a full body with creamy tannins. Round, dense and supple. Drink now.”
Winemaker Notes:
“A superb, deep burlat red color with purple highlights. An expressive wine with peppery, spicy, liquorice tapenade and plum aromas. A very full, concentrated, dense, fleshy, easy-drinking, very fruity wine with silky, livelier tannins and good length and aromatic persistence.”
Alcohol: 15%
